PALMER—To date, 60 dogs have been saved through SPOT, the innovative partnership between the MAT-SU Borough and the Alaska Dept. of Corrections known as the Shelter Pet Obedience Training Program.

Inmates at Hiland Mountain Correctional Center train hard-luck dogs, and Alaskans readily adopt them. The SPOT program has been saving dogs for a year.

Celebrate SPOT's 1-year anniversary and yet another dog graduation ceremony complete with mortarboards and Pomp and Circumstance.

The details are attached as well as a former press release.

May 30, 3 p.m., Hiland Mountain Correctional Center in Eagle River.
