During an Assembly Special Meeting on Tuesday, Special Recognition Awards were handed out to three Station 6-2 firefighters. Fire Captain- Adam Schou and Firefighters- Robert Brown and Dustin Croft all received the Award from Mayor Vern Halter for performance of excellence involving their successful rescue of three people from a residential structure fire on March 28. According to Chief Michael Keenan, their exemplary, life saving work took place in under five minutes, saving not only the three individuals but the building itself. Two of the people were extracted from the roof and the third had to be rescued from inside on the second floor. "What wer're here for is saving lives. We don't have that opportunity too often, we often get there too late. So when we get this opportunity to recognize a good job like this, it's pretty important to us."
