“I’ve been striving for improved access to local government. Here’s a way you can stay informed with less effort and testify on the issues that matter to you,” Borough Mayor Larry DeVilbiss said.

The Borough website offers links to the agendas under the Assembly calendar. However, many working families are too busy to remain informed on issues of local government. This email push allows you to sign up and forget about it until it arrives in your email. Eight people have recently signed up for the new agenda notification. Five people have recently subscribed to other online feeds from the Borough. See News feeds for certain subjects in press releases and more.

It’s a busy week for the Assembly. This week holds two public hearings May 2 and May 3 on next year’s Borough comprehensive budget, at 6 pm, at the Central Mat-Su Public Safety Building on Lucille and Swanson in Wasilla. Also, a regular Assembly meeting is tomorrow, May 1, at 6 pm in Palmer at the Dorothy Swanda Jones building, 350 E. Dahlia Ave., downstairs in the Assembly chambers.

The IT Dept. has been gearing up to provide online services, said Chief Information Officer Shannon Post  “I believe strongly that the user experience should be easy and graceful, whether it’s paying for swimming lessons or keeping up with local issues. This is the beginning of a long line of improvements that aim to make interaction with Borough services easier for the public,” Post said.
