Seeking Mat-Su artists: Susitna Ferry awaits

Mat-Su | Patty Sullivan | Monday, April 12, 2010

Seeking artwork of MAT-SU Borough artist. Award: $1500 for painting the Susitna Ferry in the waters of Knik Arm with Port MacKenzie in foreground and Anchorage in distance.

The poster is part of a new annual poster contest by the Borough, which serves two purposes: highlighting a selected local artist’s or photographer’s work and promoting a Borough Assembly priority project. Photography as a medium is difficult this year because the ship is being built in Ketchikan.

Paintings or drawings should be submitted ready for print on May 10, 2010.

Please submit: Copy of original artwork in a high resolution TIFF format for a poster size of 28”X22”. Please submit on a CD in both RGB and CMYK color formats to:
MAT-SU Borough, Patty Sullivan, 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, AK 99645.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough retains all rights. Artist will be expected to assist with print production, print signing, and event appearances. The winner’s work will be framed and placed in prominent places.

2009’s poster was Fred Hirschmann’s photograph of Pioneer Peak, representing future
Palmer Hay Flats Natural Science Education and Community Center. Photography as a medium is difficult this year because the ship is being built in Ketchikan.
