Rail road update on Gold Creek (Gallery)

The track repair crews have repaired a major washout that left 500 feet of mainline track dangling just south of Gold Creek (about 35 miles north of Talkeetna).  35 railroad crew members worked double-shifts around the clock to rebuild the track. Now these crews are heading to Seward working along the way to turning their attention to the less severe water erosion that has occurred all along the line.  The freight trains have not run north to Fairbanks since last Wednesday.  If you need passenger information call them at 907-265-2494
