PSA Regarding Firewood

PALMER ? Wildfires are human caused more than half the time, according to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife. Over this July 4^th holiday, don’t become a statistic. Fireworks are illegal in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

The MAT-SU has recently been experiencing extremely dry conditions. As usual, code compliance officers will be patrolling.

Fines in the Borough start at $50 and can go up to $500.

Within the city of Houston fireworks may be legally used on private land with the permission of the landowner.

Use of fireworks within the city of Houston is prohibited by state law when the Alaska Division of Forestry issues bans on burning.
