Monday Morning Update from the Emergency Operation Center

TALKEETNA- A community meeting will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday night, (25th of September) at Talkeetna Elementary School. This meeting will address the questions of what happens next.

The water is still being tested on the East side, and it is recommended to continue boiling the water (2 minutes minimum), 'till those test results come in. They are expecting the testing to be completed today. We will update later today on the arrival of the water test kits and the turnaround times on the water testing.

BRIDGE INFO- Deneki Meadows is expecting to have walking access by this Tuesday, they are forecasting vehicle access by next Tuesday (Oct 2,2012), it will be the new bridge that is going to be opened. The Shirley Town Bridge will not be opened for awhile.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY MEETING The Mayor has called an emergency Assembly meeting this evening at 6 p.m. at Central MAT-SU Public Safety Building to extend the disaster declaration that was issued on 9/20/12, due to the heavy rain and flooding.

WEATHER AND RIVER Weather and River- NWS is forecasting ¼ to ½ inch of rain thru Wednesday PM/Thursday AM, most of the rain is going to the Gulf of Alaska. The Hydrographic branch is forecasting all rivers below the flood stage except Skwentna the river should be cresting and they are forecasting 2 more days before the flood level recedes. The Matanuska, Knik and Susitna rivers are also going down.
Please watch out for the crews, they will be assessing road hazards and may be one. Most have flaggers with them.
