Landfill Receives New Permit

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Central Landfill, located at mile three of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway, received its new operating permit from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation on Dec. 4, 2015.  This permit will allow the Central Landfill to operate until the next required renewal in November 2020. 

The permit outlines operating conditions for the landfill and addresses conditions specific to the site, including detailed site development plans and an update to the Borough's solid waste management plan as well as its daily operations plan.  Other items discussed in the permit are water and gas monitoring, noise abatement and litter.
