Assembly Member Vern Halter widened his lead for mayor by 451 votes over Matanuska-Susitna Borough Mayor Larry DeVilbiss, after the Canvass Board and Review Board verified and counted absentee and questioned ballots. In District 7, candidate Randall Kowalke was trailing but then took the lead and unofficially won by 33 votes against candidate Doyle Holmes.

During the final tally, Halter and Holmes were in the election room observing and later Willow resident Tam Boeve appeared on behalf of candidate Kowalke.

The election results are to be certified tomorrow, Oct. 20, at 5 pm in the Assembly Chambers in Palmer, 350 E. Dahlia Ave. Candidates will also be sworn in but will not take their seats at Tuesday night's meeting.

Here are the, still, unofficial Oct. 6 Borough Election results, verified and counted by the Canvass Board and the Review Board as of today, Oct. 19.

Mayor DeVilbiss has been the Borough Mayor since 1/11/11.
