FY22 Budget Adopted by Borough Assembly

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly adopted the FY22 Budget after two days of deliberation. The Areawide Mill Rate was reduced from 10.322  to 9.942, while the the non-areawide is down from .511 to .432.  With their votes on the 19 Amendments, the Assembly showed support for Department of Emergency Services, Libraries, Animal Care, including My House, a non-profit that shelters homeless youth in Wasilla and train them to become self-sufficient.

Assembly members have until 5pm this Friday to file for reconsideration. If the Mayor chooses to veto he has until the next Assembly Regular Meeting on May 18 where the Assembly could act on them under that meeting’s agenda. 

MAY 14, 2022 UPDATE:

-Motion to reconsider the Budget Ordinance has been filed by assembly member McKee. The Assembly can address the motion at the May 20, 2pm Meeting.

MAY 19 UPDATE:  

-The Fiscal Year 2022 Budget is now adopted. Two reconsiderations were pulled during last nights Assembly Meeting, which finalizes the FY22 Budget. The Assembly Special Meeting previously scheduled for May 20 has been canceled.
