MAT-SU EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER - Flooding up north concerns MAT-SU Residents. With the increase of water in the streams and rivers in the Mat-su Borough risk of flooding has become a reality for some and a concern for others.   The NWS hydro gauges are indicating that the waters are going  to continue to rise till this storm passes.

The criticalarea that the Emergency Operation Center is watching is the bridge at Yoder road and Montana Creek, it is possible that it may be closed and the residents in that area are encouraged to be prepared or evacuate as this access may be gone in 6-8 hours.  The engineers have requested that rock be brought in to shore up the levee, and public works is working on it.  The good news is that the State of Alaska spent some quality time clearing culverts  around the Trapper creek area and the water is flowing smoothly according to the local residents.
