Matanuska-Susitna Borough

Float Plane Base Site Survey

Mat-Su | Patty Sullivan | Tuesday, November 24, 2015

The Mat-Su Borough has the densest concentration of registered private airports in the nation.

As part of an update of our Regional Aviation Systems Plan, three proposed float plane base sites in the southern region of the Borough are now being analyzed for suitability.

The three proposed sites were identified after more than 30 sites were screened as part of the 2008 plan.

Pilots and aviation businesses, we want to hear from you and want you to take part in an online survey.

Share your thoughts on criteria such as air space, road access, build-out demands, wind and more.

The three proposed sites include: Seven Mile Lake, Cow Lake, and a gravel site east of Point MacKenzie Road.

To take our online survey, view maps, and learn more.

The deadline to comment is November 30. Call Project Manager Jessica Smith 861-8514 or click on the webpage.
