Fireworks Are Illegal In Most of Mat-Su

Mat-Su | Stefan Hinman | Wednesday, July 03, 2013

Fireworks are prohibited in the majority of the Mat-Su Borough. The only exceptions are in Houston on private property with the owner's permission and on New Years Eve for a very limited time when the fire danger is low. With all the hot dry weather we have enjoyed, the fire fuel is primed for ignition with just a spark. There are currently 109 fires burning in Alaska. Rain has downgraded the risk only slightly. If people are caught using fireworks illegally, they could be fined.

For questions regarding fireworks you can call the MSB Permit Center at 745-9822.  If you need to report a violation, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 907-745-9853 during normal business hours.
