FEMA signs needed to help federal assessments

Mat-Su | Patty Sullivan | Friday, October 12, 2012

MAT-SU— No Trespassing signs are interfering with teams who are taking damage assessments for a possible federal disaster declaration on the recent flood. Please post a FEMA OK sign on your property.

Here's a quick email from Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management.

Our IA PDA teams are encountering a large number of NO TRESPASSING or similar signs (some very blunt) at properties reported to have damage from this event in MAT-SU.
Our State/FEMA teams will and are abiding by these signs. This is interfering in our ability to capture damage info necessary to support a Federal IA declaration.
Since the teams are moving through large areas at a relatively quick pace appointments are not practical.

Please request property owners place a “FEMA OK” sign prominently near the signs requesting privacy. We are now inquiring about signs during the application process so it’s the previously taken applications that are of most concern.

Thanks for your assistance.
