Quake Damage May Affect Property Assessment

Property owners who have sustained damage to their real property and did not have it repaired by January 1, 2019, may report this damage by calling the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assessment office at (907) 861-8642.  

You may also contact us during our annual appeal period, which begins January 31 and ends March 1. The appeal period is a good opportunity to discuss any valuation concerns with our office.  

“The potential change in assessment will vary depending on the extent of the damage so it will be best for them to contact us,” said Brad Pickett, Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assessor. “We have been doing inspections since the earthquake occurred so this is to reach out to property owners who haven’t yet connected with us on damage.”
