DES offering assistance to residents along

Starting today at 11am-4pm (during daylight hours) the Department of Emergency Services is offering to assist residents needing to leave and/or re-enter affected areas along Willow Creek. This will allow residents who are remaining in their homes to obtain groceries, fuel, necessities, etc., and return safely to their homes. To utilize this service during this time please contact 907-355-9819. Residents needing to purchase fuel will need to bring their own fuel jugs and will be shuttled to a local fuel store and back.

Willow Fire Department, Mat-Su Animal Care and the Mat-Su Water Rescue Team remain able to assist residents to safely leave the area as well as re-entering their homes if they chose to do so. This assistance will only be available during daylight hours.

Matanuska Susitna Borough Operations and Maintenance will be on location again today assessing mechanical solutions to the flooding.

Deneki Road is closed at this time. Residents are advised to not attempt to cross the flooded area as this is a life threatening activity.

The American Red Cross shelter at the Willow Community Center, 23625 W Willow Community Circle, Willow, AK remains open for persons unable to remain in their homes.

If further assistance related to this flooding incident is required after these hours on Monday December 23, 2019, call 911 with your location or address, number of people and animals needing to evacuate. The Water Rescue Team, Willow Fire Department and the Mat Su Animal Care officers will respond and assist as needed.
