Matanuska-Susitna Borough Finance Director Cheyenne Heindel and staff received recognition at a recent Assembly meeting for a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association for the 2019 budget. Mayor Vern Halter read from the award and honored Heindel's work. This is the fifth year the Borough has received the award.
"Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America," the GFOA news release states. The award assesses how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. See the full GFOA news release here.

Another award received by Borough Finance for 31 years is the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
