"It's a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the employees of the Borough Finance Department that they have received this honor for 24 years in a row," Borough Manager John Duffy said. "It also indicates that taxpayers' funds are being properly monitored, managed, and invested."

Tammy Clayton, Certified Public Accountant and Director of Finance, and Elizabeth Hartley, Certified Public Accountant and Comptroller, have both been awarded with this highly prestigious award. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Tammy has been with the MAT-SU Borough since 1998 and has been a part of the annual award for the past 11 years. Elizabeth Hartley has been with the MAT-SU Borough for five years and has been a part of this award all five years. “I want to thank everyone in the Finance Department by putting in their piece to help make this award possible. Without the help of everyone we would not be able to accomplish our goals,” Hartley said.

This award has been given by meeting high standards of excellence as well as demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure,” which clearly communicates its financial story. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
