The five-member Canvass Board will be completing the canvassing of the questioned ballots over the weekend or verifying which ones are valid to count. Early Friday the Board had reached surnames starting with the letter "K" of some 1,334 questioned ballots. On Oct. 5, the Board began the fastidious process of examining a record number of ballots—3,629 absentee and questioned ballots.
On Monday, Oct. 17, a separate body, the 3-person Review Board, will count the valid ballots in an AccuVote machine. Updated unofficial results will be available Monday online, after they are finalized. The results are not official until certified at a 5 pm meeting before the Mat-Su Borough Assembly on Tues. Oct. 18.

In the race for School Board Seat for District 2, the separation is even closer, with School Board Memeber Ray Michaelson leading School Board Chair Susan Pougher by 39 votes and some 601 absentee & questioned ballots and 6 special needs ballots issued.
