Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly Members need more information to consider the options for the outstanding federal grant monies for the Susitna Ferry. The Assembly continued the meeting to Aug. 21, 3 pm in the Assembly chambers at 350 E. Dahlia Ave. in Palmer. The Federal Transit Administration sent the Borough a letter Aug. 5 requesting reimbursement of $12.3 million in grant funds.

Deputy Mayor Ron Arvin presided over the meeting. Arvin said the Assembly directed staff to gather more information in order to consider several potential solutions.

Assembly Member Jim Sykes said he would like the public to know what our potential liability would be if we paid the full bill. If we did have to pay, where would the money come from?

Assembly Member Vern Halter said he was irked by how we were locked into a uncooperative situation.

Assembly Member Matthew Beck said he looked forward to finding a solution.
