MEA has reported that the number of homes without power is down to approximately 500, from 1,800 reported last night. The main cause is trees falling on the power lines. Please stay away from downed power lines; they may still carry current.
With winds expected to continue between 45-60 mph through Thursday, keep your emergency supplies at the ready and watch for flying debris.
The Red Cross will be setting up two shelters this evening. At 7:00 p.m. there will be a warming center at the Palmer Senior Center, and at 10:00 p.m. there will be overnight accommodations available at the Wasilla Sports Complex.
