MAT-SU— Matanuska-Susitna Borough Clerk Lonnie McKechnie thanked the Canvass Board for their fastidious work in counting the 1,777 absentee and questioned ballots from the recent election. The group of five women worked for 11 days on finalizing the ballots for certification by the Assembly.

McKechnie and her staff presented the Canvass Board with a red rose during applause at the Assembly meeting Tues. night. Canvass Board Chair Gerry Keeling has been involved in local elections since 1976, and Chair since 1985.
