8 candidates for Borough mayor

Eight candidates are running for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough mayor seat. The deadline to file was Friday. The special election for mayor is Jan. 11, 2011. Former Mayor Talis Colberg left the seat in October.

Ron Arvin is Deputy Mayor.

The candidates for mayor are: Kenneth E. Clark, Larry DeVilbiss, Kurt H. Jarmer, John Leiner, Brian Sullivan, Bruce Walden, Jeff Ward, and David S. Wilson.

The Mayor of the Borough is a ceremonial position. The Borough Manager directs operations. The Assembly recently interviewed the remaining three candidates for the manager position, and went into an executive session moments ago to discuss the matter.
