IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ETHICS COMPLAINTS:
If you are considering filing an ethics complaint, please DO NOT discuss it with anyone, including spouses or other trusted family members. Ethics complaints require strict confidentiality unless waived by the respondent, pursuant to MSB 2.71.130, Confidentiality.
Please DO NOT contact members of the Board of Ethics with ethics concerns. Doing so could be considered an ex parte contact and the ethics code requires that the Board take up matters as a whole and not individually. There is an important process that must be followed in the processing of ethics complaints.
You may pick up a complaint form from the Borough Clerk's Office from anyone in that office. When you return it for filing, please return it ONLY to the Assistant Borough Clerk, Brenda Henry or to the Borough Clerk, Lonnie McKechnie. This will help maintain strict confidentiality.
MSB 2.71.070, Conflicts of Interest; Prohibited Acts and MSB 2.71.110, Prohibited Acts, can assist you with filing your complaint.
For questions: 907-861-8684 to speak to Brenda Henry, staff support for the Ethics Board. If Brenda is unavailable, please leave a brief message and she will return your call.
The Board of Ethics is comprised of 5 seats. The duties of the Board are as follows:
- to prescribe and promulgate rules and regulations governing its own internal organization and procedures in a manner consistent with MSB 2.71
- to conduct hearings, recommend disciplinary action, assess penalties, and make referrals

- upon written request of any municipal official, to issue an advisory opinion, in writing, as to any questions of conflicts of interest
- to make recommendations to the Assembly for amendments to the ethics code and for other legislation affecting the subject matter of the ethics code
- to provide a continuing program of education, assistance and information about the ethics code to persons to whom it applies
