Plans > Coastal Management Plan
Plan Overview
The major purpose of the 2005 Revised Coastal Management Plan (CMP) is the balanced management of the physical, biological, and cultural resources of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB) coastal zone. The CMP is used to manage the wide range of coastal uses and resources, including development along the lakes, rivers, streams, and roadways; important areas for community recreation; natural hazards; and coastal habitats. The CMP is a policy statement, directing issues of local concerns and MSB residents.
Plan Justification
Alaska State Law requires that the MSB revise the CMP. This document has been prepared to comply with the Alaska Coastal Management Act and the Alaska Coastal Management Program regulations adopted in 2004.
