Mat-Su | Stefan Hinman | Friday, July 11, 2014

Mat-Su — The Voluntary Evacuation is still advised for some Butte residents along the Matanuska River but could be lifted tomorrow afternoon if conditions continue to improve. There is no flooding reported but rivers are still being monitored closely with the Matanuska River remaining in an “active” stage. Sandbags are being provided by the Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services for both Talkeetna and Butte residents. For Talkeetna, the sandbags are available at the Mat-Su Borough maintenance building on Comsat Road. Business hours are from 7am-4pm Monday through Friday. The contact person is Mark Goetsch. In the Butte, sandbags will be stored at the Butte Fire Station. If more sandbags are needed at either location after hours, people can call Palmer Dispatch at 745-4811.
