Voluntary Evacuation Notification

Mat-Su— 9:05pm: There is a voluntary evacuation between mile 13-15 along the Old Glenn Highway due to high water on the Matanuska River. As of 8:30pm, the Butte Fire Department has finished door to door contact of residents informing them of the situation and will remain in contact with the residents. Approximately six homes are involved with all residents choosing not to evacuate at this time. No homes are currently flooded with the water receding slightly. We are continuing to monitor as the water level is in an action stage. However, a new weather system is moving into the area which could further raise water levels. The Red Cross shelter is now open and is located in the Old Palmer Senior Center at 831 South Chugach Street. Pets are being allowed in the lower level of the facility.
