US Sen Dan Sullivan visits Port MacKenzie

Mat-Su | Patty Sullivan | Wednesday, July 27, 2016

U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan visited Port MacKenzie yesterday (July 26) while F-22s screamed overhead from the nearby military base. Sen. Sullivan listened to an overview of Port MacKenzie's features—large space & deep draft—with a 32-mile rail line nearly complete. Sen. Sullivan said he supports transportation infrastructure projects like Port MacKenzie Rail.

He mentioned the $100s of millions in construction that will be required for military bases in the Interior in the near future and how that freight could be hauled north on Port Mac Rail. He was also aware of the tremendous opportunity for exporting natural resources via Port Mac. View the short video on his visit.

"We're looking to bring a lot more military forces here...whether it's new construction up in the Interior in Eielson (AFB) or missile defense work that's going to be done at Ft. Greely (Army) or Clear (Air Force Station). You see the potential of the dock here both two ways, bringing in important materials—building and infrastructure—and, of course, exporting our incredible natural resources."
