Third cement ship offloads at Port MacKenzie

Friday, Port Director Marc Van Dongen said the offloading of the cement ship was part of some $30 million in work going on now at Port MacKenzie, including the expansion of the barge dock and the dirt work on the bimodal truck and rail loop. The offloading of cement bags went smoothly, he said.

"We're offloading 12 supersacks of cement about every seven minutes," Van Dongen said. "We've offloaded 4,000 sacks so far in a day and a half...and could be done mid-day Saturday."
