Matanuska-Susitna Borough

Old Pools, Ice Rink Need Upgrades

Mat-Su | Patty Sullivan | Wednesday, December 16, 2015

Some 32,000 people take swimming lessons at the Matanuska-Susitna Borough's two public pools every year. An average of 144,000 people use the pool each year. The 30+ year old pools need major upgrades, so too does the Brett Memorial Ice Arena, which draws 57,000 skaters per year. Community Development Director Eric Phillips gave the Borough Assembly such stats, asking for a public conversation on what can be done for the infrastructure.

Borough Manager John Moosey starts out the audio. Listen to Director Phillips with questioning after by Assembly Member George McKee and Assembly Member Barbara Doty.

Read through Phillips' power point presentation posted here.
