Managing the $5.7 Million loss from veto

Matanuska-Susitna Borough Manager John Moosey is managing the $5.7 million revenue loss from Alaska Gov. Bill Walker's veto on school bond debt reimbursement.  At a recent meeting Manager Moosey reopened the approved 2017 Borough budget and proposed to cut $4.58 million from it. Tomorrow night Moosey is asking the Borough Assembly to cover the remaining $1.1 million by tapping into budget reserves.

Attached is a memo on the proposed cuts. "The Matanuska-Susitna Borough was given less than a 48-hour notice that the State of Alaska was reneging on its pledge of bond reimbursement," Moosey wrote in the memo.

Moosey will present his cost containment strategy under the manager comments at the top of the meeting tomorrow night at 6 pm in the Assembly chambers at 350 E. Dahlia Ave. in Palmer.
