17th Annual Mat-Su Emergency Preparedness Expo Set for September 20

Wasilla, Alaska — The Mat-Su Borough will host the 17th Annual Emergency Preparedness Expo on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Menard Sports Center, located at 1001 S Clapp Street, Wasilla. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and will feature over 90 indoor and outdoor exhibitors, hands-on activities, and live demonstrations focused on emergency readiness.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other emergencies. Highlights of the event include:

• Free Boat Safety Inspections by the Coast Guard Auxiliary
• Earthquake Escape Room Activity – test your preparedness knowledge in a timed challenge
• Earthquake Simulator – experience the impact of a quake in a safe, educational setting
• Hands-only CPR, First Aid, and Backcountry Safety Training
• Emergency Preparedness Supplies available for purchase
• 8 Interactive Presentations covering topics such as pet emergency kits, water safety, and wilderness survival (schedule available on the Facebook event and website)
• Youth Poster Contest, Door Prizes, and Live Demonstrations
• Six Food Trucks offering a variety of local fare
