Borough Helps Houston on Rescue Truck

It was the professional relationship between the Mat-Su Borough Dept. of Emergency Services and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson that assisted in securing a 1992 rescue truck for the City of Houston.

Borough staff worked diligently with Joe Beckham, lead technician for JBER, on the worthy cause.

Ken Barkley, Borough Deputy Director of Fire & Rescue, used to drive the truck in a prior career.

“Houston often aids the Borough in emergency calls. We were happy to make the connection, not only helping Houston gain a rescue truck and JBER find a home for the truck, but also enhancing the number of apparatus on hand in the community,” Barkley said.

The current rescue truck Houston Fire Service Area has is in dire need of expensive repairs. Barkley said. This new addition will have more capabilities. It can carry all their equipment and has an enclosed walk-through heated cab with low mileage.
