Assessor Gives Annual Report

New construction in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough added 547 single-family homes, 80 multi-family homes, and 61 commercial buildings in calendar year 2018, according to Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assessor Brad Pickett.

Pickett gave his annual Property Appraisal Report to the Assembly tonight.

Among the insights he shared:

  • The average appraised value of a single-family home in the Borough increased 2.55 percent.
  • The average appraised value of a single-family residential home in 2019 is $255,403.
  • The Assessor's office processed 1,278 property tax exemptions for senior citizens and disabled veterans and 492 new parcels. 
  • Appeals were significantly down in 2018.

The deadline for appeals on taxes is March 1. Please call the Assessor at (907) 861-8642 if your property sustained damage from the Nov. 30 earthquake. The damage may affect your taxes.
