7.0 Earthquake Rocks Mat-Su-Anchorage

At 8:29 a.m. Alaska time there was a 7.0 magnitude Earthquake, 25 miles deep located 35 miles southwest of Palmer, Alaska according the Palmer Tsunami center. 

There is known road damage to Pittman Road, Vine Road, and Parks and Glenn Interchange. The Matanuska- Susitna Borough urges people to stay off roads. If you must drive, use caution and treat all intersections as four way stops if lights are not operational.

Matanuska-Susitna Borough schools are being closed. Contact the school to coordinate pick up of your student.

There are area wide power outages, and some limited structural failure of homes and businesses. There have been numerous calls for gas leaks throughout the area. If you smell gas, evacuate your facility or home and call 911 for further instructions. 

Those who are need of shelter can go to the Menard Sports Complex located at 1001 S Clapp St. Wasilla, AK.
