Palmer -- On the last night that Mayor Talis Colberg presided over the Assembly he honored Chief Charles Von Gunten of the Butte Fire Department for his 40 years of service by proclaiming October 19, 2010 Chief Charles Von Gunten Day.Von Gunten has held the rank of Fire Chief of the volunteer Fire Department since 1984 giving him the opportunity to mentor many young men and women who have joined the department over the years. Emergency Services Director Dennis Brodigan presented Chief Von Gunten with an elaborately decorated ceremonial ax as a token of appreciation.
